My Winter Essentials with Sorel

It’s weeks like this one where I spend my time daydreaming about what life would be like living in California, with consistently perfect 70-degree temps year round. Instead, I’m here in the Northeast living life in my fleece onesie and telling you about my winter essentials. Is it the first day of Spring yet?

I will say that I love #sweaterweather but there comes a point where it’s just too cold to even care…which is how I’m feeling right about now.

This past weekend we saw our second snowfall of the season and ventured out Sunday morning to the beach. Funny thing is, we didn’t end up lasting more than the ten minutes we took to shoot this look because it was so. damn. cold.

winter essentials 3My Sorel’s are always the first things I throw on in this kind of weather. We actually have this running joke in our family about Sorel’s because not one family member (even through our extended family) doesn’t own a pair. It’s almost a rite of passage, so to speak. Can you guess what one of the first gifts my husband was welcomed into the family with? Yep. Sorels.

I own the Caribou style, a Sorel classic, which are great for heavy snow. However, when I’m looking for something a little less bulky, I throw on my Tivoli’s, which I’m wearing here. For those of you who don’t see snow or the winter, I also love Sorel rainboots and have had my eye on the Joan Wedge boot for quite a while now!

Can you tell it’s all about the boots here in the Northeast?

winter essentials 4I’m also wearing one of my favorite boucle coats, that I picked up at H&M paired with a cozy cable knit that I have in just about every color! And yes, I love this leather saddle bag as much as you do! So many of you have asked about it after posting it on Instagram and it is just as amazing as in person as it looks here! It’s from the LC Lauren Conrad line and currently on major sale. The rose gold hardware pairs perfect with the cognac color (though it’s beautiful in its other shades, black and wine, too!) and the dual straps have been incredibly convenient.

Thanks girl! It was a good time but short-lived because of how freezing cold it was!!

I love how everyone in your family gets Sorel boots! Such a cool tradition. I wish my family did something cool like that. I also love how you styled them! Such a cute and easy outfit for those chillier days.

Haha yes! We kind of just fell into it because my dad has always loved them so much. Sometimes it’s hard to style big bulky boots but when it’s this cold, I just pile on alllll the layers.

Isn’t it crazy how being on another coast you probably won’t have to ever bundle up like this?!

For someone who truly has every excuse to bundle up in infinite amounts of layers, you sure look fantastic in this cozy winter outfit! From the coat to the boots (so cute for winter boots, might I add) to that fantastic bag – I’m in love!

Haha, I can totally relate to wanting to live in Cali this time of the year, then again I really do enjoy living in a place which has all four seasons as there’s something I enjoy about them all, not a big fan of cold though, especially when doing photo shoots.
You pulled it off really well though. 🙂

I totally agree! It’s definitely a love hate – if I didn’t have the seasons I would be so bored!
