Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m going to spare you a love story and instead tell you a funny story – not about my husband and I, but about my love affair with my mailman (not really, but just go with it).
So my mailman has a special place on my “Top Ten Most Important People” list. He’s always bringing my mail (along with my many packages each day) up my long driveway to my doorstep and is so kind about my package pick-ups whenever I need them.
This time of year especially, I always feel for him when he has to get out of his warm truck and trek up the cold, icy driveway, and so I like to leave him a little something to get through the rest of his day. Sometimes it’s cookies, sometimes it’s chocolates – but always food (obviously).
So as I was backing up his box of chocolates yesterday, I realized something – I don’t tend to leave him anything in the Spring or the Summer (he probably wants any excuse to get out of his truck and into the fresh air). I don’t tend to leave him anything in the fall (no reason why here, I just forget). I don’t tend to leave him anything around Christmastime (too busy and hectic for everyone and I don’t need the UPS guy stealing his treats). But somehow, coincidentally, the time is always right on Valentine’s Day.
So to my beloved mailman, whom I only leave gifts for on Valentine’s Day, while I do appreciate you, I am not, in fact, in love with you.
Let’s chat about Spring. We’re just under five weeks and counting, but who says we have to wait until it’s here to start breaking out our Spring wardrobes?
I love the idea of bombers and leather jackets as transitional outerwear. I came across this fringe jacket a few months ago and though I haven’t been able to wear it much just yet, I’m planning on it being a staple in my closet this Spring. I chose to style it with jeans for a more casual look, but a black jacket can certainly be dressed up too!
A classic black will never go out of style, so I’ve rounded up some of my favorites for the upcoming season!
