Get the Look: 70s-Inspired Style

Ever since I can remember, I was wearing sweeping flares with flowers in my hair and flowy, patterned blouses. Of course, my fashion choices have evolved over the years, but the one thing I just keep going back to is 70s-inspired style.

I love that this Fall, we saw yet another emergence of 70s trends and a vintage-inspired color palette packed with burnt hues and rich textures. Suede, flares, corduroys, cropped denim, platforms, shift dresses...I'll take them all please! I've found my personal 70s-inspired style by mixing retro with my current wardrobe to create 'inspired' looks without mimicing a style that looks too costume-y.

There are so many ways recreate this type of a look, and today I'm sharing a few of my favorite pieces that give off alllll the vintage vibes.

Rich Stripes

Believe me when I say that self-control is a necessity when buying stripes. Honestly, If I could have a closet full of retro striped pieces, I would. But do I need a closet full of retro striped pieces? Hell no. Keep an eye on the color palette of the stripes when shopping for 70s-inspired pieces. Look for rich hues and a variety of color. My sweater sold out from Madewell like wildfire this Fall. So glad I got my hands on it when I did, because it's one of my favorite pieces in my entire closed (which is saying a TON).

High-Waisted Flares

It's not always easy to find a great flare these days. I legit pride myself in my denim collection, but I have to say that it's a little sparse in the flare department because I really only have 1-2 pairs that I love. I've been doing some searching lately for a classic medium wash and have found some new styles that I'm eager to try. I typically look for a mid-high waist (high preferred) for an elongated look.

Faux Fur

So many fun styles to play around with when it comes to faux fur. For a retro vibe, stick to neutrals; creams, browns, cognacs (all of these pair perfectly with stripes too!) My faux shearling jacket is from HM's Fall collection, but I've linked a similar style here

Cognac Accessories

Cognac was such a prevalent color in the 70s. Love that we have adopted it into modern fashion too though, because it's one of my faves! My bag was a bit of an investment, but I've linked some more affordable options below.

Have you hopped on the retro train? If so, what are your fave trends?

I honestly don’t know many gals who can pull off a flare/wide-leg trouser like you can! I always find myself wanting to buy a pair but then thinking “I’ll never wear them like Danielle” haha! Love them anyways though. Such a cute look on you!
